The main attraction of the day is the boat ride in the Ganges. You can admire the ghats (the stairs) of the city while floating on the river. The two most important and popular ones are the Manikarnika Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat. Your guide can feed you with lots of interesting mythological fables linked with these two ghats.
After the boat ride, you can take the rest of the day at leisure.
The other option is if you want to visit Sarnath. It is loacted about 10 kilometres north-east of Varanasi and is of great importance to the people of Budhhism followers as the place is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma. The place is also special because it is near the confluence of the Ganges and the Varuna rivers.
In the evening, you can simply relax at the ghats and enjoy the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi.
