Itinerary Details

Depart from Delhi to Jaipur. Dinner & overnight on Board.

Breakfast on board. Morning excursion to Amber Fort. Make your ascent to the palace fortress on the gaily caparisoned elephant back. Tour the chambers and hallways of the palace which are famous for the excellence of their design and decoration. Afternoon tour of Jaipur known as "The Pink City of Rajasthan" Visit the unique Jantar Mantar Observatory, which was built in the 1700's, yet even today still looks futuristic or almost surrealistic; the City Palace and its Museum, the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds. Return to train for tea and freshening up. Enjoy a drive of Jaipur by night followed by dinner at a Palace Hotel. Return to Palace on Wheels. Train departs for Sawai Madhopur. Overnight on board.

Arrive Sawai Madhopur. Game viewing in the sanctuary by canter. Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary extends over an area of 392 sq kms of thick forests. The place abounds in scenic beauty, requisite refuge for both the carnivora and herbivora. The numerous valleys and flat hill tops form picturesque surroundings of the 13th century historical Ranthambore Fort. The Tiger and Leopard are the main predators found in this reserve. Breakfast at a hotel. Palace on Wheels departs for Chittaurgarh. Lunch on board. Later visit Chittaurgarh. There is no place in Rajasthan with a history more romantic than that of Chittaurgarh. The centre of Rajput resistance against Mughal rule. Evening Tea with Sound and Light show at the Fort. Dinner at a hotel. Overnight on board.

Arrive Udaipur. Breakfast at a hotel. Morning, sightseeing tour of Udaipur, stopping first at City Palace. Here you will marvel at rooms with mirrored walls and ivory doors, colored glass windows and inlaid marble balconies; and the Peacock Courtyard. Also visit the lovely Sahelion-ki-Bari Gardens; the Jagdish Temple; and the local folk museum. Lunch at a hotel. Enjoy boat ride on Lake Pichola before returning on Palace on Wheels. Evening tea on board. Palace on Wheels departs for Jaisalmer. Dinner & overnight on board.

Arrive Jaisalmer. Breakfast on board Morning sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer. It is in the heart of the Great Indian Desert. Its temple, fort and palaces are all built of yellow stone. The city is a mass of intricately carved buildings, facades and elaborate balconies. See the Patwon-Ki-Havelies, Salim-Singh-Ki-Haveli and Gadhi Sagar Tank. Afternoon visit the Sand Dunes and a camel ride to view the sunset, as the sky is set on fire and Rajasthani folk musicians play haunting tunes. Enjoy Dinner with Cultural programme. Breakfast on board. Arrive Jodhpur. Morning sightseeing tour of Jodhpur - gateway to the desert beyond, home of the Rathores of Marwa. Visit the Fort, rising up a hilly scrap, built on the advice of a hermit, which overlooks the city in the image of a long sentinel. Inside the Fort are a number of palaces added by successive rulers. The cenotaphs of the former rulers are imposing and architecturally remarkable. Lunch at a hotel. Palace on Wheels departs for Bharatpur. Dinner & Overnight on board.

Arrive Bharatpur. Visit to National Bird Sanctuary. Bharatpur (Ghana) once the former hunting preserve of the royal family of Bharatpur, the sanctuary is home to storks and nearly every other kind of bird imaginable. You'll see more than 250 different species nesting on the tops of trees and along the roadside, as well as snakes, lizards, exotic fish and monkeys. Break fast at a hotel. Palace on Wheels departs for Agra. Enjoy your lunch at a hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Agra city visiting, the most perfect architectural monument in the world -The Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal is the mausoleum of Empress Mumtaz Mahal, the beloved spouse of Shah Jahan, who died in 1630. The Taj is remarkable for its perfect proportion and rich pietra dura, with minute details executed with great skill. The building, often styled "a dream in marble" is said to have taken at least 22 years (1631-1653) to build. Enjoy sound & light show. Dinner at a hotel. Palace on Wheels departs for Delhi. Overnight on board.

Arrive Delhi. Dis-embark after breakfast on board.

Once you reach Delhi the tour representative will transfer you to the railway station to board the train known as Palace of Wheels which will take you to the Pink City-Jaipur. You will be served amazing diner in the train. You have the option to choose vegetarian or non- vegetarian meal as per your wish. Train journey from Delhi to Jaipur is quite comfortable. As the journey is not very long you will be in Jaipur by morning. Once you reach Jaipur, the tour representative will come to pick you up from the station. Overnight is on board.

Early in the morning you will reach Jaipur. Lavish breakfast will be served on the train. You will leave the train for some sightseeing of Jaipur. Visit the very famous Amer Fort which offers spectacular view of Whole Jaipur city. If you have time you can do some shopping of gem stones, tie and die fabric, souvenirs etc in wonderful bazaars of Jaipur. Visit the royal observatory Jantar Mantar and head straight to City Palace. If Return to the train for some evening refreshments. You can have a wonderful dinner at Palace Hotel. Then board the train for Swai Madhopur. Overnight is on board.

The breakfast is served on board. In the morning you will reach Swai Madhopur which is popular for 392 sq kms of thick forest area known as Ranthambore Wildlife Sactury. You can go for jungle safari where you will spot various animals such as deer, leopards, sambhar, chital, barking dog, wild buffalo, elephants etc. If you are lucky you will be able to spot a tiger. Then you will leave for Chittauragarh. Lunch will be provided on board. When you reach Chittaurgarh you can watch the famous Light and Sound show which is truly fantastic. You will have dinner at some hotel in the city. Overnight stay is on board.

In the morning you will be reach Udaipur which is a magnificent city. Your first stop will be City Palace which is simply beautiful. The mirrored walls, colored glass windows, ivory doors and inlaid marble work of this palace is just out of this work. Some other places which you must see in Udaipur are Jagdish Temple, folk museum, Sahelion ki Bari Gardens. Visit Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar Lake. The lake is lined with wonderful eating joints and cafes. In the evening return to the train where you will be served tea. The train will then depart for Jaisalmer. Dinner and overnight stay is on board.

In the morning you will reach Jaisalmer. After having your breakfast on board you will leave for sightseeing tour of Jasialmer which is popular for camel safari across the dunes. All places, forts and havelis located in Jaislamer are built out of yellow sandstone. Therefore, Jaisalmer is popularly referred to as Golden City. You must visit Salim Singh Ki Haveli, Patwon Ki Haveli and Gadhi Sagar Tank. If you visit the dunes you must have Rajasthani folk music event arranged for you. The tour representative will have a cultural even organized to entertain the guests. Later in the evening you will come back to the train which will then depart for Jodhpur. Overnight is on board.

In the morning you will reach Jodhpur city. After breakfast you can leave for excursion tour of Jodhpur. Jodhpur is known as the Blue city as most of the buildings here don a blue color. It is in fact the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan. Visit the Mehrangarh Fort located on top of hill. It is one of the largest forts in the country. You must also visit the Phool Mahal which was considered to be chamber of pleasure for Maharaja Abhaya Singh. Later in evening you must reach on time to catch the Palace on Wheels for Bharatpur. Dinner and Overnight is on board.

In the morning you will reach Bharatpur which is known for the Bird Sanctuary. This area was hunting preserve for the royal family. Hunting is banned now. You will see an amazing 250 different species of birds here. Some wildlife spotted here are lizards, snakes, monkeys, exotic fish etc. Return to the train after breakfast and then you will leave for Agra. Agra is home to Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful monuments in the entire world. Words fall short to explain the beauty of Taj. Enjoy the Light and Sound show at Taj Mahal. You can have dinner at your chosen hotel. The train will then leave for Delhi. Overnight is on board.

In the morning you will reach Delhi where you will disembark. This marks the end of your Palace on Wheels luxury train tour. The journey is simply wonderful and you will proceed for your onward destination after this.
